The Annual NASP Southern California Conference

This is a day-long educational conference designed to address the on-going informational needs of pension fund, endowment, foundation trustees and staff and their legal counsel on a series of critical investment issues.

Private equity encompasses several investment strategies including venture capital, growth equity, leveraged buyouts, mezzanine, distressed and secondaries. Experienced and knowledgeable private equity experts will discuss the nuances, opportunities, and issues associated with investing in these asset classes. Panels will be designed to be interactive and educational at both the executive/trustee and staff levels and provide tangible take-a-ways that can be applied to your investment decision-making processes.

Fast-Track Program

The purpose of the Fast-Track program is to expose students from underserved communities to the broader world of business and finance. The curriculum consists of regular one on one mentoring from an industry leader, onsite office field trips to leading financial institutions and awards financial scholarships to address unexpected college expenses which can impede academic focus.

State Teachers' Retirement System
Investment Officer III, Private Equity Direct Investments

The CalSTRS Investments Branch is seeking an experienced individual to work as an Investment Officer III on the Investment Strategy & Risk team.

The Investment Strategy & Risk (ISR) team’s primary goal is to improve the risk-adjusted returns of the CalSTRS portfolio through a total fund approach with smart rebalancing, risk management and the inclusion of alternative investments and overlay strategies. Due to CalSTRS being a mature pension fund with negative cash flows, tighter cash management with efficient rebalancing and total fund management are increasingly important to fund performance. The ISR team focuses on the longer-term asset liability management and shorter-term tactical fund positioning with risk budgeting.

Under the general direction of the Portfolio Manager, the Investment Officer III will recommend and implement investment strategies and policies that support the goals and objectives of the Innovative Strategies Portfolio. The incumbent is expected to perform the most complex duties requiring the highest degree of competence, independence, confidentiality, and discretionary judgement.
